Making the hard stuff accessible to everyone

The leap of faith, the king swing, trail blazing or bridge building, night hikes or camp fires – at Rock UK you’re guaranteed a fun and challenging experience.

Brief: Barnabas Adventures had been around since the 1920’s. With outdoor centres across the UK it was time for a brand refresh and a strong possibility of a new name. Under new management the leadership invited ABA to come on board to help relaunch the brand to inspire young people and attract new opportunities.

Solution: We quickly identified that the name Barnabas was not helping the reputation of the brand. We proposed a new brand essence of ‘ignite’, which truly reflects the experience young people had. We agreed themes to generate names and finally agreed on the new name of Rock UK.

The brand needed to continue to connect to its key audience of Christian schools and youth groups. The name Rock UK has great symbolism to the Christian faith – we even put a hidden cross in the logo type.

The design team then set about creating a strong identity that would reflect the rugged outdoor experience at Rock UK. The identity needed to go across outdoor clothing, way finding, marketing, advertising and of course we built a fully content managed website.
