Creating the VW camper brand for doers

Bilbo’s Motorhomes was formed out of a passion for touring over 30 years ago. Based in Surrey they are the UK’s leading converter of VW campers. They came to ABA to re-energise the brand with a particular focus on younger professionals that take longer breaks earlier in their careers.

It didn’t take the ABA team long to uncover some brand gold dust. The founder’s story was full of authenticity. Their passion for adventure was evident even after running the business for 30 years and just needed to be brought to the forefront of their brand communications.

Many competitors led on tech specs and size but one advantage Bilbo’s had was that their campers could go where others couldn’t. A Bilbo’s camper is for real adventurers and so the ‘Doers Wanted’ campaign was launched. This led to a successful repositioning of the brand, including a fun few days in Snowdonia on location!
